Sonenberg was the executive director of the Long Island Community Foundation for 21 years and has been an independent consultant on organizational development since 2011.
Suzy Sonenberg served as Executive Director of the Long IslandÌýCommunity Foundation (LICF) from 1988 through 2009. AfterÌýreceiving a Master’s Degree in Social Work from ÌÇÐÄÆÆ½â°æ inÌý1976, Ms. Sonenberg spent eight years as a nonprofit administratorÌýand grantseeker before joining the NY Foundation as a grantmaker inÌý1984.
During her tenure at LICF Ms. Sonenberg was instrumental inÌýfounding ERASE Racism, the Women’s Fund of Long Island,ÌýSustainable Long Island and the Long Island Center for NonprofitÌýLeadership. Since 2011 she has been an independent consultantÌýfocused on organizational development.
Ms. Sonenberg now makes her home in Northern NJ and SouthernÌýMaine. She serves as board Vice President of the The MaineÌýInitiatives Fund, a progressive foundation focused on social,Ìýenvironmental and economic justice.
