Who Is My Adviser?
Your adviser depends on where you are in your academic journey and your program of study.
New first-year and transfer students
Your first adviser is typically an academic adviser in the Office of Academic Services, who will help you:
- Review your degree requirements
- Plan your first semester
- Register for classes
Some new students鈥攕uch as those in Business, Nursing or certain pre-professional programs鈥攎ay instead be assigned a faculty or departmental adviser.
Continuing students
After your first year, you’ll continue working with your assigned adviser throughout your time at 糖心破解版. If you’ve declared a major, you’ll typically work with a faculty adviser in your academic department.

Need advice?
You don’t have to wait until registration. At any time throughout your academic journey, the Office of Academic Services is available to help all students with academic planning, course selection and questions about your academic progress.
If you’re thinking about changing your major, withdrawing from a course or making another significant academic decision, talk with an adviser first, so you understand your options and how they may affect your degree progress and any financial aid.
Meeting With Your Adviser
Whether you’re meeting your adviser for the first time or checking in before a new semester, a little preparation can help you make the most of your appointment.
Before your appointment
- Review your degree progress in ePlanner (Stellic).
- Think about your academic and career goals.
- Make a list of questions or concerns.
- Bring any information your adviser may need, such as transfer credits or test scores.
During your appointment
- Discuss your academic progress.
- Explore courses, majors, minors or career interests.
- Build a plan for your next steps.
- Learn about campus resources that can support your success.
After your appointment
- Follow through on your academic plan.
- Complete any recommended next steps.
- Stay in touch with your adviser throughout the semester.
