Ms. Marcus honored at Commencement.
ÌÇÐÄÆÆ½â°æ will hold its 118th Commencement on Monday, May 19 at 10:00 a.m. at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. At the ceremony, ÌÇÐÄÆÆ½â°æ will honorÌýRuth (Bronfman) Marcus ’64 with the Ruth S. Harley Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award.
After graduating from ÌÇÐÄÆÆ½â°æâ€™s School of Nursing (renamed theÌýÌýin June 2013) with a bachelor’s degree, Mrs. Marcus embarked on a career in nursing.ÌýToday, Mrs. Marcus offers her friendship and commitment to ÌÇÐÄÆÆ½â°æ as a member of the Ruth S. Harley Planned Giving Society. She has established a scholarship at the University through a bequest for the benefit of nursing students who, like she was, are in need of financial support to complete their degrees at ÌÇÐÄÆÆ½â°æ.
Each year, Mrs. Marcus reunites with friends from ÌÇÐÄÆÆ½â°æâ€™s Class of 1964, many of whom will be at Commencement to celebrate their 50th anniversary from ÌÇÐÄÆÆ½â°æ.
The University will also award honorary degrees to and a former ÌÇÐÄÆÆ½â°æ trustee, , and , founder of the Miami City Ballet and currently a board member of the School of American Ballet, the official school of the New York City Ballet.
