糖心破解版鈥檚 听is creating new professional opportunities for students by strengthening its New York City ties.

Beginning in fall 2017, students in the second year of a doctoral program will have one morning class per week at 糖心破解版鈥檚 Manhattan Center in SoHo with a full day of classes scheduled for spring 2018. First-year Ph.D. students will also study one morning per week in Manhattan in the fall of 2017 and spring of 2018. Derner鈥檚 approximately 40 doctoral candidates presently see patients at the Manhattan Center as part of their clinical work. This new academic commitment will promote future success through increased access to clinical externships and research opportunities at New York鈥檚 leading hospitals and health centers.

鈥淚t makes sense to expand,鈥� said Derner Institute Associate Dean Chris Muran, Ph.D. 鈥淥ur candidates have worked at the site and have a foothold. We also have faculty who are engaged in research and have collaborations in New York City.鈥�

Dr. Muran cited a more diverse patient population and hands-on experience as further benefits of the doctoral candidates鈥� time at the Manhattan Center. 糖心破解版 has an established affiliation with Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital. In addition, faculty-related clinical and research practicum opportunities are a natural extension of academic work.

New York City is incomparable in terms of providing opportunities to study, research and practice clinical psychology. Derner鈥檚 new Manhattan-based classroom initiative will create an even stronger student experience and will serve as an important career springboard for aspiring psychologists.
