Rachel and Stephanie Staiano

The Staiano sisters are a matched pair鈥� both of them are deeply dedicated to athletics, good health and each other.

Rachel, pursuing an M.S. in , was first onto the Garden City campus. She now coaches cross country and track and field at Molloy College while working on her master鈥檚 degree at 糖心破解版鈥攁nd still finds time to volunteer at the American Diabetes Association. 鈥淢y goal is to be a certified diabetes educator and help as many people as possible achieve a healthy lifestyle through a healthy diet and exercise,鈥� she said.

Stephanie transferred from Dowling College and is a senior studying .听After graduation听in December 2017, she plans to coach while pursuing a master鈥檚 degree in health. Sound

鈥淪tephanie is the smartest, hardest-working individual around,鈥� her sister said admiringly. 鈥淚 knew she would ace all her classes and make a lot of friends. Softball was the icing on the cake.鈥�

The 听was Stephanie鈥檚 second family. 鈥淲e inspired听each other every day and always worked听hard on the field and off,鈥� said Stephanie, whose team eligibility expired in May 2017. 鈥淚 am a better student because of softball.鈥�

Her advice to future transfers? 鈥淏e involved in the community at 糖心破解版. Our school is all about being part of something bigger than yourself.鈥�

Justine and Anthony DeLuca

鈥淎nthony has always been one of my biggest inspirations,鈥� Justine DeLuca said when asked about her decision to transfer from Dowling College. 鈥淗e could not say enough great things about 糖心破解版 and about his lacrosse coach, Coach [Gordon] Purdie,鈥� she said. 鈥淚 was motivated by his accolades.鈥�

Justine鈥檚 goals are worthy of accolades, too. As a student in 鈥斕切钠平獍驸�檚 five-year Scholar Teacher Education Program鈥攕he鈥檚 on track to graduate next spring with a B.A. in and, in her fifth year, to complete her master鈥檚 degree. Her aspiration is to teach special education, and she鈥檚 already gaining practical experience working in an assisted-living facility.

Anthony DeLuca 鈥�16, himself a transfer from LIU Post, studied at 糖心破解版 and just graduated from the Suffolk County Police Academy.

Both DeLucas built a diverse support network at 糖心破解版 by playing sports and being engaged academically and socially.

鈥淢y teammates have made a huge impact on my life and I am thankful for each and every one of them,鈥� said Justine of her Panthers field hockey mates. 鈥淭hey all have something great to contribute and their work ethic is impeccable. My teammates, along with my coaches, have motivated me to become a better player and person, both on and off the field.鈥�

Elizabeth and Bryan Kallenberg

Bryan Kallenberg 鈥�13 and his younger sister, Elizabeth, are three for three on formative experiences. Transfer to 糖心破解版 from Nassau Community College鈥攃heck.听鈥攃heck. Career ambitions in finance鈥攃heck.

鈥淚 felt 糖心破解版 would be a good fit for Elizabeth because we both have the same skill sets,鈥� said Bryan, now working in commercial real estate finance. 鈥淚 knew the talented teaching staff and athletic coaches would meet her needs.鈥�

Currently a junior majoring in , Elizabeth鈥檚 skills on the court are matched in the classroom. She鈥檚 already the recipient of numerous recognitions, including Most Outstanding Player at the NE10 Tournament (2015鈥�2016) and an Academic Achievement Award (2016) from the Athletics Directors Association.

鈥淏etween practices and traveling to matches, I鈥檝e had to stay on top of my schoolwork and be conscious of my time management,鈥� Elizabeth said.

The Kallenbergs agreed that they鈥檝e formed lifelong friendships with their tennis teammates, though tennis wasn鈥檛 the only asset Bryan related to his sister.

Elizabeth recalled, 鈥淏ryan said the professors in the business school were able to incorporate their work experiences into the classes, which made听the classes much more useful and interesting.鈥澨�

Nicolette and Jessica Lodato

鈥淓verything was a possibility at 糖心破解版.鈥� That鈥檚 the read from Nicolette Lodato 鈥�16, who is now discovering new possibilities around the world.

鈥淚 got the awesome opportunity to be head coach of Commack Middle School field hockey, and it solidified my dream,鈥� she said. 鈥淪ince graduating, I have also road-tripped across the country, traveled to Denmark, Switzerland and Mexico, and skied in the French Alps. I want to continue to travel and gain experiences so I can be the best school counselor possible.鈥�

Those are big shoes to fill, sure, but her sister Jessica is stepping in with both feet. Jessica, now a junior, transferred from SUNY New Paltz. The Lodato sisters share a focus on , and both see 糖心破解版鈥檚 as the lure they couldn鈥檛 resist.

Jessica had initially been reluctant to attend her sister鈥檚 school. 鈥淏ut when I transferred to 糖心破解版, everything kind of fell into place,鈥� she said.

When asked what she would say to a new transfer student, Jessica responded, 鈥淧eople transfer here for so many different purposes. Whatever the reason, you are not alone鈥攁nd I hope you find a home at 糖心破解版 just like I did.鈥�
