Published:When Adelya Urmanche, PhD 鈥22, was looking for a school for her doctoral studies, she wanted to stay close to home. At the age of 9, Urmanche emigrated from Kazan, Russia, with her mother, landing first in Brooklyn, New York, and then in New Jersey. Home had moved around enough for her already. She wanted a strong psychology program that offered both research and clinical experience, but she also wanted to stay near her mother.

Published:Mary Beth Cresci, PhD, adjunct professor, who served from 2005 to 2018 as director of the postgraduate programs at the Gordon F. Derner School of Psychology, received the Founders Award from the Society for Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychology (SPPP), Division 39 of the American Psychological Association (APA), at its April meeting.

Christopher Muran, PhD, professor and interim dean while Dr. Barber is on sabbatical, have collaborated on a revised psychodynamic therapy chapter in Bergin and Garfield's Handbook of Psychotherapy and Behavior Change 7th Edition (Wiley 2021), considered 鈥渢he bible of psychotherapy." It builds on the original chapter published in 2013, for which they also collaborated.

Ern Knox 鈥75 and SharRon McCoy-Knox
CategoriesPublished:Ern Knox 鈥75 came to 糖心破解版 first as a commuter student from Roosevelt, and later as a resident student, to study psychology. He found a strong community in the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, the first Black fraternity on Long Island, as a member of its second pledge class. SharRon McCoy-Knox, an aspiring nurse, commuted from Freeport. SharRon was actively involved in student life and had a role in establishing the first Black sorority at 糖心破解版, Alpha Kappa Alpha.
